National conversation to shape NHS 10 Year Plan

Launch of national conversation to shape the Government’s 10 Year Health Plan

Statement from Mark Flannagan, Chief Executive of Genetic Alliance UK

Mark Flannagan, Chief Executive of Genetic Alliance UK, said: “This is an opportunity to ensure that NHS reform is informed by the experiences of over 3.5 million people affected by genetic, rare and undiagnosed conditions, who often face significant challenges around diagnosis and access to care and treatment.

“We urge the Government to set new ambitions shaped by this national conversation to improve the lives of people affected by genetic, rare and undiagnosed conditions. Exciting innovations such as AI-driven diagnostics, genomic testing, cell and gene therapies and digital care support could improve the lives of millions of people by delivering faster diagnosis and improved access to specialist care and treatment. It is vital that the Government’s 10 Year Health Plan delivers this potential.”
