NHS 10 Year Plan

Today marks a pivotal moment for healthcare in England as the government prepares to launch its 10-Year Health Plan.  Read the Government’s press release.

The Plan is expected to include:

  • A significant commitment to genomic medicine. Ambitions for 50% of healthcare interventions to be genomics-informed by 2035, including universal newborn testing and a unified genomic record.
  • Plans for a ‘Neighbourhood Health Service’ offering increased GP access, pharmacy support and mental health services.
  • A major shift towards digital healthcare delivery, including consolidated patient records and app-based digital referrals.
  • A focus on prevention through public health initiatives including new screening programmes.

The policy team at Genetic Alliance UK will be thoroughly reviewing the plan, and we’ll soon share our overview and initial reactions.

We want to say a massive thank you to all our members and the wider community for sharing your views and helping Genetic Alliance UK to inform the 10-year health plan. You can read about how we’ve shared your views and sought to influence the plan on our dedicated 10-year plan page on our website.

Now that the plan’s out, we’re really keen to hear what you make of it. Please, do get involved and share your thoughts with us. Email [email protected]
