Ways to give

Help us continue our work

Genetic Alliance UK is a small and impactful charity with a mighty mission. We work tirelessly with our member organisations to improve the lives of the 3.5 million people in the UK with a rare, genetic or undiagnosed condition.

We work with our membership organisations and senior decision makers in the NHS, the Government and Parliaments across the UK to advocate for people living with rare, genetic or undiagnosed conditions, campaigning for accurate and timely diagnosis, equitable access to treatments and well coordinated care. We make sure the voices and needs of our community are heard and reflected in rare disease legislation and healthcare policy.

Genetic Alliance UK member organisations provide just 5% of our income. We rely on charitable donations and grants from many areas to continue our vital work – including from kind individuals like you.

Your donation helps us:

Thanks to you we can continue to be here for the 1 in 17 people with a genetic, rare or undiagnosed condition in the UK

Support our work

Help us continue our vital work supporting 3.5 million people living with a rare, genetic and undiagnosed condition.

Fundraise for us

No matter how big or small, your own fundraising event is a brilliant way to get people involved, raise awareness and generate donations for our vital cause. Whatever you choose to do, we’ll be here to support you all the way.

There are so many ways to organise your own fundraising, such as a coffee morning, community quiz night, virtual get-together, or another sponsored event. You could even use a special occasion, such as a birthday or anniversary, as a reason to ask people to donate.

Collecting donations

One of the simplest ways to collect fundraising donations is via our Genetic Alliance UK JustGiving page

We also have dedicated pages for our national awareness campaign Rare Disease UK, family support network SWAN UK and its national awareness day Undiagnosed Children’s Day. Loved ones can easily donate to your event and find out what you’re doing and all donations will come straight to us, including any Gift Aid.

If you would like your fundraising to support more than one charity at a time, we are also registered with GiveWheel. Create your fundraising page and choose the percentage of the money you raise that you would like to give to our work. This is a fantastic option if you would like to raise funds for the charity that provides you direct support, but you would also like to raise funds to support our work to drive systemic change in the NHS and government.

If you have any questions, or would like fundraising tips or advice, please contact us.

Challenge events

Sign up to an existing challenge event in aid of Genetic Alliance UK – run, cycle, walk, push or anything else that you’ve seen taking place. We’re happy to support you in whatever challenge you choose, whether you take one on individually or get together as a group.

We’ve partnered with Run For Charity to make challenge events as straightforward as possible. Run for Charity offers places for some of the most popular challenge events all over the UK, taking place throughout the year. There’s events to suit all abilities, from gentle walks to ultra marathons. You might also sign-up to a challenge event yourself, separate from Run for Charity.

To find the perfect event for you, simply click on your region below and explore the races taking place in your area.

You will need to sign up under Genetic Alliance UK, but you can still choose to fundraise for the Rare Disease UK campaign or family support network SWAN UK – just let us know.

You can pledge to sign up to a race in February for Rare Disease Day or in April for Undiagnosed Children’s Day.
Once you have signed up to your event, we will be in touch to support you on your fundraising journey.
